As you know, we love Functional Fitness. And freeweights are a great way to dial in the ideal weight for your body. Start small as just a little resistance can go a long way in the beginning.

So before building muscle mass, focus on activating all of your body’s bloodflow networks, neural networks, muscles and tendons. It’s all connected! This will develop a strong foundation to build the muscle mass on. You wouldn’t build a house directly on top of sand, so why would you try to start building muscle mass on weak muscle networks?

Get your functional strength and flexibility flowing first. Get that blood pumping. Get all those additional stabilizer muscles engaged. Focus more on calisthenic type workouts. Build your stamina. Then start adding weight incrementally. Keep adding and adding, little by little, as per your personal goals. And you WILL see results.
